  2. The 15th day of 8th lunar calendar month is
celedrated as the Mid-Autumn Festival because
the Chinese people believe that the moon is at
its fullest and brightest on that night and it
is also a time for family reunions.

The Chinese custom of eating moon cakes was
first recorded in the reign of the Emperor
Tang Xi Zong (874 - 889 AD) of Tang Dynasty.

The moon cake was made in the shape of a full moon to symbolize union and perfection.

  3. The great poet Li Bai (701 - 762) once
invited the moon to have a drink with him and
his shadow to form a band of three .....

According to a popular legend, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuan Zhang who instigated a rebellion against the Mongol rulers by concealing a call to revolt in the moon cakes, managed to overthrow the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368) and led to the founding of the Ming Dynasty in 1368.

All say it's the same everywhere as round & bright

But how can one be sure thousands of miles away

Wind and perhaps rain may not be marring the night?
